I couldnt agree more with reviewer cb900. Lolo pass is over rated and St. Joes is an absolute gem of a ride. Access it from the east end requires a section of gravel, just be warned. However the gravel section is in very good condition. St Joes is a tight road so high speeds are risky, but ooh so fun:)! Really a fantastic! Enjoy.
Very nice deserted ride that I will take any day over the busy Lolo Pass route. Higher drop offs, sharper corners, No traffic! Couple of pitstops along the way. Some hardpack gravel at the St Regis end to the Idaho border. No big deal on my sportbike anyway!
Great ride! No traffic, basically deserted! Just as far, higher dropoffs, and tighter turns than Lolo! Pitstop in Avery if you need one! You won't get stuck behind the trains on this trail like Lolo! Why? the Eastern end has 10 minutes of gravel to scare most away! Perfect.
Really good winding road from Montana into Idaho, some gravel in places but don be put off this otherwise great road. If you like corners, this is for you!
