My girlfriend and I did this route on our way north from Santa Clarita instead of taking interstates. It is a beautiful drive with many changes in terrain. At Lake Hughes, one can take another route towards Frazer Park that continues past Frazer Park into mountains and onto a ridge that permits views of the Mojave Dessert to the east and wonderful pasture lands and mountains to the west. Then it connects with another route listed here to Santa Maria. All make a great morning to afternoon ride. About 4 hours. I´ll try to put the other route in Called Lake Hughes West.
